This
great vacation-dance week is held in Cham, Germany among the beautiful foothills
of the Bohemian Forest, about 1 hour North of Munich and close to the
Czech border.The longest running square and round dance week in Europe, the European Square and Round Dance College was started in 1968 by Cal Golden and has over the years since been passed on to other calling or cueing leaders to organize. This is the only dance event in Europe that features both squares and rounds in 3 halls - running continuously the entire week.
The days of the event are still changed for 2025!
There will still be a Trail-In dance, on Easter Sunday evening at which to relax, then on Monday Evening the week will start with a Welcome Dance for all participants. This gives us all a chance to meet and greet friends that we haven't seen possibly for a year, and to make new friends.
The teaching starts at 9:00 AM Tuesday through Saturday, with round dance workshops in 3 levels (phase III-IV, IV-V, or V-VI). Each of those afternoons, take part in any of the 3 square dance workshops, where you can practice and polish your ability in the Plus, A1 or A2 programs. These will be workshops aimed at taking dancers into extended applications of these programs - they are not classes, or introduction sessions. The dancing fun continues through Saturday Evening, when we come together again for the Farewell Event. To lead the square and round dance programs each year we feature professional callers and teachers from around the world! They are guaranteed to keep your learning and practice experience a great adventure in dancing!

But the week is not only workshops! Each evening, as well as request/open rounds, we feature 3 mixed square and round dance programs where you get to relax a bit and practice what you have learned during the day - offering something for everybody! And if that is not enough, there are after-parties, after-parties, and more after-parties! Each night after the dancing participants may join in the fun of organized and rehearsed skits, games, and just plain group fun!
Built into part of the old medieval city wall, the
main convention location is the Hotel Randsbergerhof, in the center of Cham as it is today. The rooms are comfortable, all
with private shower or bath. Among other comforts, the hotel features a
heated swimming pool, Turkish bath, health and beauty center with
massages, and a fitness room.
